About Library Square – Sherman Oaks

The Sherman Oaks community of Library Square is located north of Ventura Boulevard, south of Ventura Freeway, between Van Nuys Blvd. and Hazeltine Avenue. This eight blocks section of Sherman Oaks California feature several residential communities and neighborhoods but yet within a couple of blocks to most services and amenities such as Gelson’s market, Best Buy, shops and restaurants, guitar Center, Ralph’s market, and other amenities. Access to the Ventura Freeway is just a few blocks farther west, along Sepulveda Boulevard.

Most of the homes in Library Square were built around the 1940s and have continued to develop over the years.

There has been talk that “McMansions” have been trying to take over Library Square for the past couple of decades. Property values thrive on conformity in real estate so a neighborhood that has similar properties and then is interjected by a large, modern-looking mansion, typically looks out of place and this is what residents of Library Square have been trying to prevent.

Library Square is just 300 homesites and you can find small ranch homes adjacent to these large McMansions using up the entire lot on which they are located. While many people don’t find anything out of the ordinary, some people like the traditional Rambler or ranch-style home is traditional in Sherman Oaks. However, some folks are choosing to not just restore the existing home but tear down completely replacing them with a larger, more modern or contemporary design.

However, Library Square is close to shopping, restaurants, dining, services, and lots of amenities so it’s a beautiful place to call home with close access to all your daily needs. Residents are part of the Los Angeles public school system and students are typically assigned to the Sherman Oaks elementary school, the Van Nuys middle school, and the Van Nuys Senior high school.
