More on the Sherman Oaks Galleria Area
The Sherman Oaks Galleria is actually a local shopping and business center in downtown Sherman Oaks. It’s nestled at the corner of Ventura and Sepulveda Boulevards. It is basically the “mall area” formed by the 1982 satirical song “Valley Girl”, which mentions the Galleria by name. It’s been the location for many films such as Valley Girl, Back to the Future Part II, Interspace, Crazy Stupid Love, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High. The idea is that it focused on the San Fernando Valley youth culture and today is a three-level mall with theaters, multiple shops, and restaurants and is really the hub of shopping in Sherman Oaks for over 30 years.
But the mall is really just the focal point for this area. There are several residential communities that sit just south of Ventura Boulevard and north of Valley Vista Boulevard. This is 3 x 9 block area have an average home price of about $2.5 million with an average price per square foot at about $675. You’ll find a few condominiums, apartments, and single-family homes along the residential streets of Dickens St., Greenleaf Street, benefit Street, and Beverly Glen Boulevard. Most homes are no more than about three or four blocks from Ventura Boulevard, which has hundreds of restaurants, shops, markets, and other amenities and services. If you’re looking to live within a residential neighborhood with beautiful tree-lined streets yet be close to everything as well as the freeway, the Sherman Oaks Galleria neighborhood might be ideal.
