Living in Sherman Village

Sherman Village is a small community in Sherman Oaks California just north of Ventura Freeway and Riverside Drive. While it surrounded by residential communities, it offers a great senior living option called the Village at Sherman Oaks. This is a luxurious senior living community offering endless choices of activities and amenities such as fitness classes, a heated oversized pool, Internet lounge, and library. There’s close by shopping, movies, and entertainment as well as dining on-site, fully equipped fitness centers, landscaped courtyards and walking paths, gift stores, and crafting activities.

However, Sherman Village itself is considered more of a “orphan” neighborhood as it doesn’t have its own neighborhood counsel representing it for the city of Los Angeles like a lot of other Sherman Oaks communities do. This neighborhood located along a prominent stretch of Riverside Drive is an upper, middle class part of the San Fernando Valley tucked between Valley Village and Sherman Oaks.

There are several major businesses and prominent locations in Sherman Village including the Old North Hollywood Medical Center, and about 75 homes. The LAPD North Hollywood division patrols Valley Village. It separated geographically to the east from Valley Village by Tajunga Wash and stretches west from there between Magnolia Boulevard and the 101 freeway to Coldwater Canyon Avenue.

Sherman Village was primarily built up around 1984 offering contemporary style designs, apartments, condominiums, and single-family homes. Sherman Village condominiums offer dramatic living spaces with open floor plans, formal living rooms, fireplaces, wet bar, and inside laundry options. This complex has a total of 118 units on three floors with homeowners dues upwards of about $600 per month.

You can see that Sherman Village is one of the most eclectic and diverse communities and neighborhoods in Sherman Oaks. From senior living to gray condominiums, single-family homes, and within just a couple of blocks to shops and restaurants, it makes a wonderful place to call home.
