Known for its elaborate Christmas lighting display, Candy Cane Lane during the holidays, College Acres provides a quieter neighborhood throughout the rest of the year with primarily single-story rambler-style homes. This collection of 321 homesite ranges in size from 1000 ft.² to 7800 ft.² with an average of about 2700 ft.². Most of the homes are two or three-bedroom and three-bath layouts and the earliest homes were built in the 1940s.

College Acres sits just north of Ventura Freeway surrounding W. Oxnard St. and a total of about 8 to 9 square blocks. It offers easy access to the San Fernando Valley area, Kaiser Permanente in Woodland Hills and Pierce College located just north of the neighborhood.

Most of the neighbors in College Acres have a tight-knit sense of community. Many of the homes have actually passed through the generations rather than being bought and sold. This drive through display is located at the intersection of Oxnard and Lubao by Pierce College. You’ll find people slowly driving down the lane with their headlights dim so everyone can enjoy the lights. Most residents ask visitors to drive by no later than 10 PM on weeknights and 11 PM on weekends as most turn their lights off after this time. This is been a annual tradition since 1952 and the residents always try to outdo each other each year. You’ll even find Santa posing for photos with kids, elves, and candy canes thrown about throughout the celebration.
